Liu Renqian, also known by his pen names Liu Xianghe and Owner of the Melon Shed, a native of Xinghua, Jiangsu Province, is now a member of the China Writers Association and an honorary member of the North American Los Angeles Chinese Writers Association. He holds the first-level qualification in literary creation, and, as the honorary chairman of the Taizhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Writers Association, as well as a guest professor at Taizhou University. To date, Liu Renqian has published over 4 million words of works in various literary journals such as People’s Literature, Chinese Writers, Master Writer, The Ends of the Earth, Zhongshan, Yellow River, West, Rain Flowers, Shandong Literature, Anhui Literature, North, Hunan Literature, and Changjiang Series. He has received numerous literary awards, including the National Youth Literature Award, the Shi Naian Literature Award, the Wang Zengqi Literature Award, the Contemporary Chinese Fiction Award, and the Zijin Mountain Literature Award. He has written the trilogy Xianghe, the story collection False Media, Chronicles of Xianghe, Xianghe Quartet, and essay collections like The Lifelong Ring of Life, Scenery of the Chu River, and Falling in Love with the Distance. He has also edited multiple volumes of the series Writers of the Lixiahe Literary School. His novel Xianghe, often compared to the Lixiahe version of The Border Town, was adapted into a movie of the same name in June 2017, earning numerous international awards. In September 2021, the English translation of Xianghe was published. In September 2023, the English translation of the trilogy Xianghe was also released.
