Foreword

Tai Chi Quan is a precious cultural asset of the Chinese nation, a gem in the field

of martial arts, and a shining business card for China’s cultural exchanges with the out

side world. Deeply loved by people worldwide, Tai Chi Quan has spread to over 150

countries and regions globally. Since the reform and opening-up policy, with the sup

port of the government and the diligent efforts of generations of Tai Chi Quan masters,

it was officially included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural

Heritage of Humanity on December 17, 2020.

To promote the standardization process of Tai Chi Quan and break the pattern

of traditional Tai Chi Quan with too few simplified routines, we have sought opinions

from various sources. Building upon the foundational movements of the original 26

movements of Chen-style Tai Chi Quan, we have revised the routine by incorporating

the content of promoting routines based on the traditional frame sequence of Tai Chi

Quan. Additionally, we have revised the 26-movement Tai Chi Quan routine based on

the characteristics of each Tai Chi Quan posture. We have integrated knowledge points

related to practicing Tai Chi Quan, making it easier for beginners to grasp the theoreti

cal and technical aspects of Tai Chi Quan.

Practicing the 26 movements of Tai Chi Quan enables beginners to quickly mas

ter a complete routine, thereby enhancing their level of Tai Chi Quan practice. It facili

tates the integration of Tai Chi Quan into people’s daily lives more widely, contributing

to a solid foundation for the global dissemination of Tai Chi Quan. This approach helps

accumulate more talent resources for the worldwide promotion of Tai Chi Quan.
